FlowMon: IP Flow Monitoring

This portal presents CESNET research activities in the area of IP flow monitoring.

IP flow monitoring is a method for passive network monitoring based on the concept of IP flow. Applications of this monitoring method range from network utilisation statistics and accounting through security analysis to QoS control.

The first and so far most successful flow monitoring technology has been Cisco NetFlow. An improved, open and non-proprietary protocol – IPFIX – is now being developed in IETF.
